Ruth A. Strand

MADISON-Ruth A. Strand, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at home with her family by her side. She was born on Dec. 24, 1943, in Madison, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Holmburg) Denson. Ruth married John Strand on April 1, 1978 in Prairie Du Chen. She worked as a claims specialist for American Family Insurance.  Ruth's first love was her family, she enjoyed spending time together, joking, and laughing. She had an adventurous spirit, and loved camping, hunting and even stealing her brother's snow machine. Ruth was the matriarch of the family, and her way was the right way. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Karsten) Strand; sister, Dottie (Bob) Mellenberger; brother, Butch (Gerri) Denson; eight grandchildren, Amber (Kevin), Brandon (Katelyn), Edward (Kelly), Koral, Kassidy, Kailee, Kanyon, and Keegan; and two great-grandchildren, Elana and Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Kay Minter; and daughter, Kimberly Johnson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 15, 2018.  Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the family.
