STOUGHTON/LAKE GENEVA/NASHVLLE-Edward Gilbertson, age 93, of Nashville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. He was born on July 27, 1924, in Stoughton, WI, the son of Morris and Tina (Hovland) Gilbertson. Edward graduated from Stoughton High School in 1942. He attended Milton College until he was drafted into the war. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the 82nd Medical Batallion. Edward started and operated Masketeers, Inc. in New York City, and founded Gilbertson Stained Glass Studio in Lake Geneva, where he retired. Edward is survived by his sons, Eric and Edward Gilbertson; brother, Marcus Gilbertson; sister, Kathi Gilbertson; grandson, Max Gilbertson; and ex-wife, Evelyn Gilbertson. He was preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service will be held at EASTSIDE LUTHERAN CEMETERY, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I so enjoyed the time I spent working on a glass window in Eddy's studio. I admired and was inspired by his artistry. His smile and generosity and wonderful family will always be in my heart.

I took stain glass lesson at Ed's studio many years ago. He was a great person and so was his son. ,I watched His studio grow into a great place. I had many happy times there. I'm sure He will be missed by all that knew him.

I knew Ed (Gil) since he came to Lake Geneva. He was an accomplished artist and a very intersting person to talk to. I always enjoyed the time I spent with him because he was a warm and gentle person, also very humerous at times. He had a twinkle in his eye that was very disarming. I have missed seeing him for several years and I will always think very fondly of him. God bless Ed Gilbertson.

I met “Eddie” during the 1950’s when I was a little kid living with his parents in Stoughton. He and Evelyn created quite a stir tootling around in a red VW bug they had driven from Dobbs Ferry, New York. They were the first people who gave me ideas about the big wide world out there. One time I cut my finger playing outside and when I came wailing into the house he calmed me down, patched me up me and helped me be brave about the whole thing. That’s when I first learned about his years of service. Farewell, Eddie.
