Obituary

MADISON-Carlton Hansen died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018.  He was the son of Anna and Anton Hansen.  Carl grew up in Waunakee and graduated from Waunakee High School in 1941.  While in high school he played baseball and basketball.  Later he played baseball for Waunakee in the Home Talent League.  Carlton was drafted into the U. S. Army in February of 1941.  After basic training he was assigned to Headquarter Service Supply, South Pacific in Numes, New Caledonia.  He was discharged in January of 1946.   After his return from service he attended Madison Business College. Carlton was united in marriage to Mary Nash in November of 1950.  For many years he worked for GMAC.  He also later worked as a salesman in men’s clothing in California. Carlton was an avid golfer and also enjoyed softball and bowling. During the fall and winter seasons he was a devoted fan to the Badgers and Packers.  At the Packer games he enjoyed tailgating with his friends. Carl is survived by his nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Hansen; parents; sister, Charlotte Schwenn; and brothers-in-law, Elmer Schwenn and Thomas Nash. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.  Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare.  The family wishes to thank St. Mary’s Care Center for their compassionate care.
