Vicky Sue Haak

MADISON-Vicky Sue Haak, age 69, of Madison, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.  She was born on Aug. 9, 1948, in Madison, the daughter of Lloyd and Eleanor (Radis) Thompson.  Vicky grew up in DeForest, and graduated from DeForest High School in 1966. One year later, she married the love of her life and soul mate Rod Haak. They resided and lovingly raised their two daughters in Madison.  Vicky worked as an Administrative Assistant for Kraft Foods, retiring in 2010. She was a member of and volunteered with the Oscarettes, and always looked forward to her weekly Joker card club. Vicky had a hard time finding a book she did not enjoy. She loved traveling with family and friends, shopping (especially for purses) was a passion, and she jumped at the opportunity to spend time with and spoil her grandchildren.  In addition to Rod, her husband of nearly 51 years, survivors include her daughters, Karrie Ann and Torrie Sue Haak; two brothers, Dartt Thompson and Kasey (Julie) Thompson; her grandchildren, Reese and Gretta Huber, and Emma, James, and Jeremy Steiert; her nieces, Taylor, Caitlin, and Sydni Thompson; her nephew, Wyatt Thompson; special friends, Steve and Jamie Steiert; and other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother in-law, Howard and Ida (Jorenby) Haak; and special sister-in-law, Sue Thompson.  Our family would like to send our deepest appreciation to the staff of unit 5SW at St. Mary's Hospital for their support and care during her stay there. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz presiding.  A luncheon will follow the service. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
