Charles Edward Endres

MADISON -Charles “Chuck” Endres, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at Heritage Monona. He was born on Feb. 2, 1928, in Madison, the son of Henry and Ellen (Fisher) Endres.  Chuck attended St. Bernard’s Grade School, Edgewood High School and Madison Business College (MBC).  Upon graduation from MBC, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea.  After his service to his country, Chuck started his career in the grocery business.  After several years in the grocery business, he transitioned to distribution working for Hydrite Chemical until he retired in 1990. In 1953, Chuck was united in marriage to his wife Kathryn. They were married for 64 years and lifelong residents of Madison’s eastside.  They raised two sons, Douglas (Marsha) Endres and David Endres both of Madison.  Chuck was very active in the Knights of Columbus and the Madison Coin Club.  After retiring, he enjoyed playing golf, working as a chaperone for Richardson Bus, volunteering for meal on wheels, and staying active in the KC’s and Madison Coin Club. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Kittie); parents, Henry and Ellen Endres; brothers, Leroy, Howard and Hank; and sisters, Mary (Wilcox) and Margaret.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, with Fr. Jay Poster and Monsignor Michael Burke presiding. Private burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charles’s memory may be made to Heartland Hospice (https://heartlandhospicefund.org/). The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care over the last few months and a very special thank you to the staff at Heritage Monona for their loving care and support during the time Chuck spent with them as a resident.
