Very sad news to hear, Jeff and I grew up together in the old neighborhood.
He was a very good friend and a hell of a football player and my protector against all the bullies that picked on me.
My condolences to the Townsend Family

Jeff was the first person I met in the gym at Harbor Athletic Club in Middleton WI. I was only 15 and I had just moved here from Chicago IL. I had been getting in alot of trouble and he told me I could turn my life around today. Right away he began encouraging me to work hard and working out could change my life. We then worked out together and were close friends for over 22 years. We also worked together for Copp's off Junction Rd. In Madison for about 7 years. Because of him I'm a hell of a trainer. I looked up to him like a Father and he would call me son. I will never forget everything you showed me and everything you taught me. You will continue be remembered and I will forever honor your strength and courage. I will continue to work hard in your name. Never say you can't. He said that to me often. Love you. Rip good friend. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. Sean N.

I got to know Jeff when he moved from Madison to Lake wisc. He like to lift weights & so did I. We got to be good friends the last few years of School & the next few years after school, We had many good times sitting around the basement table drink our favorite drink ( Yukon Jack) with Doug Holton . He introduced us to a lot of his friends from Madison. Jeff loved to trout fish around the lodi Area. He also loved Rock & Roll music, Led zeppelin was one of his favorites. I have a lot of good memories of Jeff. Debbie sorry for your loss.

I MET JEFF AT THE HARBOR ATHLETIC CLUB IN MIDDLETON. HE BECAME THAT SARCASTIC FUNNY OBNOXIOUS GUY YOU WANTED TO GO AWAY BUT GLAD YOU KNEW HIM. WE LOST CONTACT OVER THE YEARS BUT THEN I SAW HIM WORKING AT COPP'S IN MIDDLETON. HE HAD LOST A LOT OF HIS SIZE, BUT HE WAS THE SAME OLE SARCASTIC GUY. I SAW HIM AT WALMART ABOUT 4-5 YEARS AGO AND HE SAID HE WAS SICK. HE LOOKED SMALLER THAN I WAS. I NEVER AGREED WITH SOME OF HIS CHOICES BUT HE WAS ALWAYS GOOD TO ME. SO SAD HE'S GONE. HE WAS A GOOD GUY, HAD A GOOD SIDE THAT NOT MANY SAW, AND HE WAS A HARD WORKER. I ALWAYS ENJOYED GIVING HIM A HARD TIME AT COPPS AND HE ALWAYS TOOK IT AND GAVE IT BACK. ENJOY THE SLABS OF MEAT WHEREVER YOU ARE JEFF! R.I.P. BROTHER!
