MADISON-Daniel J. "Dan" Anderson, age 35, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018. Dan worked for a local bar and grill, in Madison, for the past several years. He was a graduated esthetician, and had several of his works published. He was a kind, supportive, and devoted friend to many. Dan loved to read, loved his cats, and loved a good shoe collection. He was enormously witty and humorous with a talent to entertain. Dan will be remembered for numerous moments of tear inducing laughter, his generous acts to care for someone in need, and endless memories of dancing, hugs, and openly listening whenever needed. A life far too short, and a loss far too great, Dan was loved, and will always be loved. Dan is survived by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Eloise Anderson; brothers, Michael (Becky) Anderson and Jeremy Lakin; sister, Katie (Alan) Strong; nephews, Clarke and Calvin, and nieces, Charli and Jaden. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gordon (Mildred Greene) Anderson; maternal grandparents, Francis M. (Helen Tourdot) Kaul; and nephew, Jake Evan Timmons. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.

I worked with Dan at Cinema Hair Studio where him and I became fast friends. He was extremely talented and had a huge following of clients that loved him and his work. I was saddened when he moved to San Fransisco, but was excited to see him when he moved back to Madison. Every time I’d see him, he had a smile on his face and the ability to put one on mine, too. I enjoyed going into The Shamrock and grabbing lunch where he would promptly greet me and we’d have a quick laugh before I’d head back to work. He will be missed dearly.

Dan was a rare and beautiful soul. I have never met anyone as kind, humble, accepting and forgiving as he was. There wasn't a single bad cell in his body. He touched many lives, mine included. He found a way to love me despite myself and to lift me up in times that I was too weak to climb. He paints a perfect picture of the man I strive to be every day of my life. His smile could change your world if you let it and his drive to care could shine light in the darkest of corners. He taught me what faith is. He taught me what love means. He taught me how to face my fears and how to walk through them. He will be missed and never forgotten. I admire him and hope to become half the man he is someday. I can still hear him laughing and I hope I can hear his laugh for the rest of my days. My world will never be the same but he taught me everything I need to know in life and I have been humbled by the grace he shone in everything he did.. My heaviest condolences to friends and family alike.

Dan and I met around the year 2000, I have lots of fond memories of him. Whether dressed in a suit and tie getting Culvers right before close are walking down the streets of the Eastside drunk and happy, he was always the same amazing person. I will miss him and he delightful candor immensely.

Dan was a very calm and gentle presence at shamrock. He always knew our drinks and greeted us with a smile. I'm truly disturbed by his passing but May he rest in peace.
