This is Kevin Roth, from Springfield Corners, and I grew up with Milton being the custodian at Springfield and Martinsville. He was always such a kind and considerate man. He will be missed. My story of him goes back about 30 years, long after he was our custodian. My wife and I started attending St. Lukes church in Middleton. Milton and Delores were also members. Sometimes we would sit by them or they would sit by us. Delores had the voice of an angel and could sing beautifully. Milton on the other hand, I'm sure was never asked to sing in a choir. He was very loud, and almost always off key. It was just horrible. So after a while, if we came to church after them, I would choose to sit elsewhere so I didn't have to hear his horrible singing. Of course, sometimes he would sit by us and we were stuck listening. One day I had an epiphany. I thought that God doesn't care what we sound like. He made us and only wants to hear us! Milton was loud and I'm sure he wanted God to hear him. This made perfect sense. He wants to hear us all. So then I realized that as bad as I thought I was, He wants to hear me. So I began singing loudly. I probably offend some people, but they are not the one I am trying to please. Milton, thank you for teaching me an important lesson, and you will be greatly missed. I am sure you are now in God's choir singing praises to Him every day. Kevin Roth
