PEORIA- Mary Lynn Dickson, 96, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on December 12, 2017, from natural causes.Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 157 South Main Street, Lodi, Wis., at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, with Father David Mower presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.Mary Lynn was born in Lodi, Wisconsin on August 27, 1921. She graduated from Miami High School in Miami, Florida with honors and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.For many years, Mary Lynn was married to Donald Dickson, a Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force. Mary Lynn worked as the Personnel Manager for the US Department of Agriculture in Peoria, Illinois until she retired from her distinguished career. Mary Lynn enjoyed rare antique map collecting and the history of map-making, and she was a collector of early American antiques. Mary Lynn was an avid reader, and she collected rare antique classic books. She enjoyed traveling to northern Wisconsin where she had a small cottage on Lake Michigan. Family and friends often visited her there. Mary Lynn was a member of MENSA. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria, Illinois.Mary Lynn is survived by her nephew, Bruce Thompson of Santa Fe, New Mexico and his wife Chelle, and nephew Bart Sheffer of Penrose, Colorado and his wife Patricia; great nephew, Jason Sheffer, Wisconsin, and great nephew, Dr. Benjamin Sheffer of Memphis, Tennessee, and his wife, Amie and their 2 lovely children, Harrison and Isla.Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Koltes of Lodi, Wisconsin; her father, Ernest Lynn Hess; her sister, Patricia Anne Jewett; her husband, Colonel Donald Dickson, and her nephew, William Lynn Thompson.The family of Mary Lynn Dickson wishes to thank Karen Stumpe of Peoria, Illinois. For many years, Karen was a faithful friend to Mary Lynn and generously assisted her on all sorts of matters. Mary Lynn truly enjoyed their friendship and spoke of her fondly.
