Herman Myron Hinrichs

MCFARLAND/ MONONA-Herman M. Hinrichs, age 87, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.  He was born on Feb. 1, 1930, in Madison, the son of Herman and Martha (Roeker) Hinrichs. Herman graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the ROTC and served in Korea in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. Herman was united in marriage to Shirley Glueck on April 4, 1953. His working career included running his own Heating Contracting business, selling insurance, and working as a building inspector for the State of Wisconsin. For the past twenty years Herman worked part-time for Catholic Knights Financial. He was a devoted member of Good Shepherd by the Lake Lutheran Church, attending many Bible study groups, and a volunteer at House of Thrift.  After retiring, Herman spent many hours tracking his stocks and watching CNBC. He enjoyed traveling up North and to Door County, participating in many card clubs, and spending time with his family and friends. Herman was a lifelong fan of the Packers and the Badgers. He is survived by his children, David (Marian), Debra (Paul) and Robert (Lisa); grandchildren, Christopher (Sally) and Timothy (fiancee Amanda Achilli) Hinrichs, Katie (Antone) Little and Kyle Nachreiner, and Kasey and Katie Lovicott; and great-grandchildren, Hailie, Abby, Makenzie, Christina and Roman. Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents; a son, Mark; and his brother, Harley.  Funeral services will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD BY THE LAKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1860 U.S. Highway 51, Stoughton, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, with the Rev. Todd McVey presiding.  Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with a luncheon to follow at the church.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
