MADISON-Carol Ann Wieck, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017. She was born on June 11, 1952 in New York City, daughter of Margaret DeRosa and Paul Krstich. She attended Ocean County College in New Jersey, and was featured in the “Who’s Who of Journalism” for her work as editor of her college paper. Carol met her husband and love of her life, David Wieck, in Point Pleasant, NJ. They lived in Madison, raising a family of four daughters, Shanna (Gary) Lockwood, Kristin (Justin) Egger, Nicole (BJ) Magnuson, and Jessica (Tim Connolley) Wieck. She adored her three grandchildren, Ella and Alice Magnuson, and Fiona Egger. She is also survived by her brothers, Dominick and Tony DeRosa; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Tim and Zoe) Plemmons, Jason Povlich, and Katy and Dominick DeRosa; and many others who loved her. Carol spent her working years geared towards family life. She was employed with an insurance company where she was fortunate enough to work from home. She also spent many years at the Black Bear Inn as bartender, cook, waitress, friend, and confidant. Carol found joy in the arts which was evident looking at the items she collected for her home. Carol loved music, she had a beautiful voice and sang in several bands in her younger years, and always in the car. She had an extensive collection of books as she was an avid reader who would pass on her book joy and reviews to others. Carol loved bringing everyone together by hosting gatherings for friends and family. She always prepared an overabundance of food, feeding everyone for days. Carol also spent much of her time and love taking care of her grandchildren, which always put a smile on her face. Carol will be remembered as a woman of patience, strength, beauty, kindness, and selflessness. Please join us in a Celebration of Life at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the BLACK BEAR INN, Cottage Grove. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

The day Carol hired me at the Black Bear, I didn't know it would be almost 20 years of friendship. I have watched her daughters become beautiful women, wives, and mothers. She made me feel like family and I will be forever grateful to have had her in my life. I saw her a couple of weeks ago at the market. We talked and laughed, hugged and said see you soon! May you forever Rest In Peace my friend.
