LODI-Clarice L. Johnson, age 100, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at UW Hospital. She was born on October 4, 1917 the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Reppen) Johnson in Dane Wis. Clarice was a graduate of Madison Business College. She worked for over 40 years at the University Hospital in the business office, which led to her love of the Badger Football Team. Clarice lived most of her life in Madison returning on weekends to the family farm. After her retirement she volunteered at the Bethel Parish Shop and found great pleasure in the friends she met there. She eventually moved back to the farm where she was born and over the years cared for her sister and nephew. Clarice loved to travel, and was an avid reader. Clarice was the one to ask regarding family information both past and present. She will be greatly missed for her wit and sharp mind by those who knew her. Clarice is survived by her older brother, Kenneth (Eleanor) Johnson; sister-in-law, Mary Johnson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Raymond; sisters, Anna, Myrtle (Ed) Quam (Joe Kautz), Angie (Earlin) Loff, Leila (John) Brownrigg, and Betty (William) Carncross. As per Clarice’s wishes a private memorial service will be held for family at the historic Arlington Prairie Church. The family wishes to thank the Lodi Good Samaritan Society for the love and care shown to Clarice over the past 5 months and the UW Hospital Palliative Care staff for their excellent care of Clarice and support of her family. Clarice was an example to every generation of the Johnson family. Everyone of us can only hope that should we be given a long life, that we can be as sharp, witty and giving as she was. All of her nieces and nephews have multitudes of memories and stories of this dearly loved Aunt. “Never being forgotten” is so trite, but in Clarice’s case, she indeed won’t be.

I started working with Clarice at University Hospital Business Office in 1947 and what a wonderful friend she was. After I retired I worked for her at Bethel Parish Shoppe and when they closed we both worked for Bethel Estate Sales. I talked to her not that long ago and she was sharp as ever. She never forgot and never forgave me for being married on a Saturday when a Wisconsin football game was being played . So sorry for your loss. I also will miss her. Zelda Droster

My sympathy to the family. Clarice, as a board member of UW Employees CU, hired me in 1979 to work with Pat McGinnity. She was a wonderful person and an “energizer bunny”. She loved to talk about the farm! Marcia Burkhardt

I worked with Clarice at the old UW Hospitals in the 1970's......I recall her as being efficient and always willing to work with other business and medical staff. She lived longer than most of us will ever think possible.....100. My sympathy to her remaining family members. Mary Baldwin
