Damian Paul `Doc` Kraemer

MIDDLETON-Damian `Doc` Kraemer, age 87, of Middleton, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 20, 1930, in Plain, WI, the sixth of seven children to Albert and Mathilda (Nachreiner) Kraemer. After graduating from St. Luke’s Catholic School, Damie attended UW-Platteville. He then enlisted with the U.S. Air Force having proudly serving his country from 1951 through 1954. After being honorably discharged, Damie played professional baseball with the Baltimore Orioles minor league system. On July 18, 1957, Damie married Maureen Dwyer at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Loreto . He was employed at Honeywell as steamfitter before he founded Kraemer Air Filter Corp in 1967 which he owned and operated until his retirement. Damie was an active member of St. Bernards Catholic Church having served on the church council and school board. He also served as Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council #4549. Damie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his time at the family cabin, hunting and fishing. He loved to golf and could often be found on the course after retirement. Damie was involved with both his children's and grandchildren's sports, both watching and coaching, but loved most the time he spent with them.  In addition to Maureen, his wife of 60 years, survivors include his three daughters, Mary Kraemer Ginsberg, Damie (Joseph) Kraemer Elsen, Nancy (Hal) Kraemer Rosenberg; his son Mitchell; four Grandchildren, Sarah, Molly, and Kathryn Ginsberg, and James Elsen; his sister, Eileen (Damian "Oscar") Needham; and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jim, and five siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernards Catholic Church, 7450 University Ave, Middleton, at 11:00 am on Tuesday December 19, 2017, with Father Brian Wilk presiding.
