Obituary
MADISON - Born in Blanchardville, Wis., Carol was brought into this world with the help of her great-grandmother, Emily Wilson, on July 3, 1927, to parents, Burton and Rowena (Wilson) Faulkes. Carol attended Dodgeville schools and graduated Dodgeville High School in 1945. She attended Commercial College in Milwaukee for two years for secretarial studies, returning to Madison and working much of her career in automotive dealerships, and later at GMAC for 30 years before retiring.
She married Roger E. Lokken on Dec. 10, 1955, at Luther Memorial Church. Roger passed away in June 1995, shortly after retiring. A few years later, Carol met the love of her life, LaVerne C. Bostad, and they married on Feb. 7, 1998. She fondly called him “Papa,” and together they traveled to Europe several times, to a number of locations in the U.S., and they wintered in Arizona. These were the best days of her life. LaVerne passed away in May 2013.
Never having children, Carol filled her time with countless volunteer hours for both Olbrich Botanical Gardens and Bethel Lutheran Church and Bethel Estate Sales. Her estate sale days were glorious to her and her estate sale ladies. They became friends for life, having many reunions and fond memories.
Carol is survived by special friends, Mike and Nancy Barth and their newly married daughter, Kelsey (Sam) Christian; dear friend, Jan Bush; sisters-in-law, Elaine Bostad and Shirley Bostad; nephews, David (Thomasina) Faulkes, Steve (Cindy) Faulkes and Tim (Joanne) Faulkes; nieces, Barb (Jim) Wilichowski and Jan (Steve) Duba; great-nephew, Spencer; great-niece, Grace; other great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives and many friends, including her dear friends on Floor 2 of Settler’s Ridge at Oakwood. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Forrest (Lois) Faulkes and brother-in-law, Mickey Bostad.
A funeral service will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the Tree of Life Chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
