Obituary
Cottage Grove/Madison-Gladys "Babe" Clark, age 85, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at her home. She was born on Feb. 18, 1932, in Madison, the daughter of John and Alma Homburg. Babe was united in marriage to William Clark on April 10, 1948, in Dubuque, Iowa. She worked on the farm, Canteen, Wisconsin Industrial Truck, Urban Land Interests, and the Beach House Restaurant until age 82. Babe took pride in taking care of her farm and her animals. She was always a caregiver of family, as well as their pets. Babe never complained, loved country music and dancing. She was always "the best dressed woman on a tractor at the farm." Babe loved playing cards, getting her hair done, driving her car, and getting together for breakfast on Sundays. Everyone loved her potato salad. Babe is survived by her sister, Bernice Hellem; son, William R. (Judy) Clark; daughter, Ruth A. (Dennis) Kampmeier, Shirley M. Guimond (cats, Jackson and Little B), and Melissa M. (John) Lavin; grandchildren, Troy Clark, William Breuch, Shane Clark, John Clark, Sean Lavin, Kelly Lavin, Kristin Strandlie, James Bender and Leanne Barnett; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Homburg, brother, Orville Homburg and husband, William C. Clark. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cobb. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. I remember many good times at the farm during high school. Loved her brownie, whipped cream cake and home made french dressing ! Wonderful, warm hearted lady, She will be missed by all who were privileged to know her!

Bill, Ruth ,Shirley and Melissa I will always remember growing up and staying overnight on the farm. The great cooking,the warmth of the kitchen and all the pride she had in everything she did! I am so glad she and my mom got together a few months ago. Heartfelt condolences in the loss of your Mother !

Billy, Ruth, Shirley and Melissa, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of one of my favorite aunts (our "Auntie Babe" ) I always loved coming to visit, loved her cooking and the card playing and just doing things that all kids do on a farm. My name is Patti, I am the daughter of Gladys Clark. It can be verified on Ancestry.com. I am very sorry I never met my Mom as she sounded like a wonderful person. I would have loved to meet her but the cards were not in the deck. I visited her grave on the anniversary of her passing. She would have added a shining star to my life. She will be missed by many but not as much as by me. May God rest her peacefully, Patti
