DEFOREST/MADISON-Virginia M. Kelso, age 92, of DeForest, passed away on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Karmenta Care Center. She was born on June 9, 1925, in Madison, the daughter of Stanley and Amanda (Peterson) Crimmins. Virginia married Hugh Kelso on May 31, 1946. She worked for Wisconsin Telephone Company. Virginia also volunteered at the USO during World War II and with the Pioneers. She loved tap dancing and according to Hugh, "had the most beautiful legs and blue eyes he had ever seen". She was a great cook, and enjoyed music, planning parties and spending time with family and friends. Virginia is survived by her husband of 71 years, Hugh; children, Terri L. Kelso and Tim (Terri M.) Kelso; grandchildren, Emerald Kelso-Lawson, Stanley Kelso and Alex and Carissa Lopez; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Stanley Crimmins, Jr. A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. It has been a long journey for her, and all of you. May you find comfort in knowing she is in a better place. We Telephone Pioneers will remember her fondly, a gracious lady, always happy and smiling. She was someone you always enjoyed being around. She was a devoted wife. Never knew any couple more in love than Hugh and Jinny. Their total dedication to each other was amazing.
God has called home one of his best, may she Rest In Peace.

I had the wonderful privilege of meeting Jinny Mae and Hugh in the last year of her life. As a volunteer I witnessed Hugh's profound dedication and deep love for Jinny Mae. Theirs was a beautiful love story. I was in awe of the love they openly shared -- they were a couple we all treasured. Hugh, thank you for your patience, your tremendous dedication, your intellect as you shared your life's story, and the love you had for Jinny Mae. "Love Divine, all love excelling...." We all are better people because we met you two. May God give you strength and peace.
