Jason M. Grosse

Fitchburg - Jason M. Grosse, age 40, of Fitchburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Agrace Hospice Care, after a three-year battle with brain cancer. Jason was born on July 15, 1977 in Madison, WI, the son of Rick and Karen Grosse. Jason attended St. James School and graduated from Madison Edgewood High School in 1995. Jason married the love of his life, Julie Hendrickson, on October 14, 2000 at St. James Catholic Church. He was a devoted and beloved member of St. James School and Good Shepherd Parish. Jason enjoyed coaching many basketball and softball teams at St. James, and when he was no longer able to coach, Jason enjoyed watching his teams from the sidelines. He was an avid Badgers and Packers fan too -- even when he was “yelling” at the T.V.Jason was Co-Owner of Hallmark Drywall and Gypsum Floors. He worked alongside his family, and that brought him much joy. He was a wise and witty man who had many interests, including golfing, hunting, traveling with his family, reading, and boating. Jason also had a special interest in American history. Most important to Jason were his family and friends. Although Jason did not like crowds, he loved to be around people, and everyone appreciated his sense of humor. Jason was a big, imposing guy, but he was also a “softie,” who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand in time of need. Jason’s children were his special joy-he was so proud of each of them. He shared with them his love of family, hunting, fishing, and roaming the family’s hunting land. He taught them to always try their hardest but to not take life too seriously. Through example he showed them how to love deeply and to be kind and giving to others. Jason will be deeply missed by everyone whose life he touched. He is survived by his wife Julie, his parents, Rick and Karen Grosse; three daughters, Gabby, Amber and Hailey Grosse; son, Zack Grosse; brother, Adam (Emily) Grosse; two sisters, Ali (Curtis) Daggett, Megan (Kilby) Willenburg; father-in-law, Dave Hendrickson; two brothers-in-law, Matt (Leesie) Hendrickson and Steve Hendrickson, and many loving nieces and nephews. Jason was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Kathy Hendrickson. Jason’s family would like to thank the Carbone Cancer Center and the staff at Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care for the wonderful care they gave to Jason. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC PARISH at St. James, 1128 St. James Ct., Madison, at 11:00 am on November 30, 2017, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 3:30 pm until 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, and also at church from 9:30 am until the time of the service on Thursday.
