Marjorie Elaine Hanes

MADISON- Majorie Elaine (nee Jacobson) Hanes, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Nov. 6, 2017, at Heritage Senior Living in Monona. She was born on June 6, 1934, in Lafayette, Ind., the daughter of Julian and Martha Jacobson. Marjorie worked for Motorola in New Jersey, Vocational Rehab Madison, and the UW Medical School until her retirement. Marji loved to read, paint with pastels, artwork, cooking, and going to Shakespeare at the American Players Theater. She very much enjoyed listening to music with her family and friends, but above all, Marji loved just spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by her two daughters; Karen (John) Cotter of Madison, and Anne Osley of Manahawkin, NJ; son, Mark (Suzie) Hanes of South Orange, NJ; grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher Cotter, Katie Osley and Dan Osley, and Max Hanes-Cohen; great-grandchild, Clara ; siblings, Marty Jacobson of Texas, Ronald (Laura) Jacobson of Wisconsin, Julie (Jim) O’Rear of Ohio, Julian (Nancy) Jacobson of Florida, Erik Jacobson of Indiana, Tina (Robert) Burns of California, and Jan (Paul) Deliramich of California. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A private memorial service will be held in her honor later in the summer. The family would like to thank the staff of both Agrace HospiceCare and Heritage Senior Living for the compassionate care they gave to Marjorie over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marjorie’s name to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy, Fitchburg.
