Floyd Carlstrom

VERONA - Floyd Warren Carlstrom, age 84, of Verona, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare.  He was born on Jan. 30, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Floyd Oscar and Hazel Jean (Gersted) Carlstrom.  He married Carol Jean Lind on Oct. 29, 1955, in Rockford, Ill.  Floyd worked his entire career at Research Products Corporation in Madison, as Manager of Advertising.  An Eagle Scout himself, he was the Junior Boy Scout Master of Troop 18 in Westmorland for many years. As a member of Toastmasters and Madison Advertising Association, he was the recipient of the Silver Medal Award in 1986.  A lifetime hobby was being a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America, proudly restoring only Mopar (Plymouth/Chrysler) products, including a 1930 Plymouth Roadster, 1947 Chrysler Town & Country, and a 1948 Special Deluxe. Floyd owned a few Barracudas and Challengers over the years. He loved all things cars, taking great pride in restoring them to their original condition. In his retirement, Floyd owned Carlstrom Car Parts and sold handmade choke and throttle knobs and cables through dashknobs.com. Floyd was loyal to his family, adored by his grandchildren, and loved his country.  Along with Carol, Floyd and his son Dale built the Carlstrom Family Cottage in 1966 on Sand Lake in northern Wisconsin. This is still the favorite place of all family vacations and many special memories were (and continue to be) made here.  Floyd is survived by daughters, Debbie Kollberg and Diane (Greg) Kopan; and sister, Janet Gehlhausen and her children/grandchildren of Walla Walla, Wash.  He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Joel) Nellis, Ashley (Brandon) Rivas, Ryan Kollberg, Trinity Kopan, Lindsey (Jeff) Carlstrom-Whitehead, Lacey (John) Strong; and great grandchildren, Adrik, Annika, Anden Nellis, Kaylynn and Kenley Rivas, and Chase and Ian Carlstrom-Whitehead.  He was preceded in death by his son, Dale Warren Carlstrom on July 12, 2013; son-in-law, Paul Matthew Kollberg on Aug. 30, 2014; and his wife, Carol Jean Carlstrom on May 1, 2017. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017. The family would like to thank the Agrace HospiceCare employees for their dedication, love, and care of Floyd and the family once again.
