Christine K Dreger

MADISON/ FITCHBURG - Christine K. “Chris” Dreger, age 79, of Madison and Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Feb. 3. 1943, in Manitowoc, Wis., the daughter of Frederick and Myrtle Dreger.

Chris graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1961 and continued her studies at Carroll College and the University of Wisconsin Madison. She made her home in Madison since 1963. As an LPN, she worked at the Mendota Mental Health and Central Wisconsin Center. While working there, she also built her own business of owning and managing rental housing at various locations in Madison. Her favorite job was the 20 years she spent as an organist and musician at Unity Church of Madison. Ongoing since 1988, she and two friends sang in the trio “Joyful Noise,” which performed regularly at Unity and elsewhere.

Chris always loved animals and for most of her life enjoyed the company of a house cat. She was a supporter of numerous animal rescue organizations.

Chris was a bright light, kind and compassionate with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed by all who got to know her.

A celebration of life will be held at UNITY OF MADISON CHURCH, 601 Tomkins Dr., Madison, on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
