MADISON-Joan Harriet Onsrud White, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, in Portage. She was born on July 25, 1924, in the Town of Dunn, the daughter of Arthur G. and Gladys (Halverson) Onsrud. Joan graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1942. She worked for Wisconsin Power & Light for 34 years, retiring in 1989. Joan returned to the workforce from 1993-2001, as a part-time employee at MG&E. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (George) Meyer; grandchildren, Gena (Jason Meyer) Roberts, George W. (Becky) Meyer, Katherine (Sarah) Meyer and Jason (Kathryn) Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Kayla (Andy) Lindner, Samantha Meyer, Abby Schmidt and Evan Schmidt; and brother, Richard Onsrud. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marilyn Schmidt; brother, Donald G. Onsrud; infant brother, Roger; and sister, Betty Brown. Private graveside services and interment will be held. One of many things I remember about Aunt Joan, was her laugh. No one could not laugh with her. Oh, and her lattice crust cherry pies, I always looked forward to those. Barb, my thoughts are with you and your family. Carol
