I met Dan and Susie when they lived on Maywood Road in Monona as our next door neighbors. Our families bonded immediately with Dan's smile and always time to talk and share a good laugh. He taught me how to golf and was always so patient with this hacker. In 1972 he hired me part time at his print shop up by Camp Randall. It was sweet as he told me to park in his back parking lot so I could walk down to the Football games. To this day I have fond memories of Dan, Susie and the two girls from Maywood Road. My prayers and thoughts are to Dan's entire family and rest in peace my friend.

I met Dan at Straus Printing and then was lucky enough to recruit him to Stanton & Lee Publishers. He was a man of enormous talent delivered with an unstoppable personality. You could always count on him. He had a warmth that made for great friendship and expertise that made him an invaluable colleague. He possessed a special kindness which I will always remember. After years of not seeing each other, we reconnected at Edgewood and I got such a kick out of seeing the joy he found in his work there, a master printer making things grow in a new way. My sympathy to his entire family, especially to Stephanie.

Danny was a cousin of mine. I will always remember Danny as a loving and caring person. I remember how he helped my grandparents on their farm. I was a little girl at the time and admired him for the hard work that my grandparents needed at that special time. He always had time to play with me, and I even named my pony after him. I have fond memories that I will hold in my heart forever. Danny will be missed, but never forgotten.

Danny was a first cousin, and although we grew up many miles apart we were very close. Danny visited his aunt Lauretta and uncle Elmer frequently on the farm and spent the summer together as children and we enjoyed riding horse together. I have many fond memories of Badger football games, playing cards, and often enjoying a drink together. Our thoughts and prayers go to the entire family.

I didn't know Dan very well but went all through Jr. High and High School with his brother Dave. We were very close friends in those days and I was at the Duerst house many times over the years. I remember Debbie also, the pesky little sister. Kidding. One night Dave "borrowed" Dan's car and myself and two other close friends went for a ride. None of us had a drivers license. Something happened to the car that night so Dan was going to find out for sure. We were all scared because Dan was the big buff older brother that none of us wanted to get on the bad side of. I don't remember him really taking it out on Dave though. I guess that's the kind of guy he was. I didn't even know for sure that Dave had passed until I read Dan's obit. RIP both of you and my prayers will go out to the families.
