FITCHBURG-Colleen B. Viviani, age 87, of Fitchburg, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on Sept, 27, 1929, in Madison, the daughter of Frank and Alma (Piazza) Stassi. Colleen graduated from Madison Central High School in 1948. She married Richard Viviani on June 10, 1950, in Madison. Colleen was owner and operator of Corner Liquor Mart and Viviani's Deli and Catering and a volunteer at the Fitchburg Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, “Friday Fish Fries” with Teri, afternoon get togethers by the pool with her friends, Fran Tierney and Christy and Tom Gamble, and entertaining her family and friends. Colleen is survived by daughter, Lynne (Frank) Smith; son, Rick Viviani; granddaughter, Kara Viviani; two grandsons, Rick (Nicole) Viviani Jr. and Joseph (Amanda) Viviani; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Harrison and Luca Viviani; brother-in-law, Dorn Benzschawel; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Viviani; parents; two brothers, Anthony (Trudy) Stassi, and Sam (Audrey) Stassi; and sister-in-law, Delores Benzschawel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC PARISH AT THE ST. JAMES CHURCH, 1128 St. James Ct, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 16, 2017, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Entombment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. The family would like to extend special thanks to the many family and friends who cared and supported Colleen these past few years, especially her caregivers Florence and Carmen, the staff at Agrace HospiceCare and the Sisters of the Oblates to the Blessed Trinity. Lynn & Rick - so sorry for your loss. She was my mom's angel on earth; partner in crime, traveling buddy, and favorite person in the world. My peace is that they are together again. I've included my favorite picture from their many travels. My favorite personal memory are the many Christmases on Lakeside Street when she invited me over to bake cookies. As a child, it was a very special time for me and I looked forward to spending time with her every year. We baked for hours making dozen of cookies in many varieties. I still make them all during the holidays for family and friends.

First of all, your family has our deepest sympathy. Your Dad worked with Rich Hankins at Universal and
Unisource Paper for many years. We went together on many company trips, like the Bahamas and more.
We were at Holiday parties at their house, your Mom was a lot of fun and we have many memories to remember her and your Dad. We're hoping she is at peace now. God Bless her and her family.

Lynne and Rick - I have been so blessed to have been part of your mom's life. Holiday get-togethers, sitting out by the pool, the endless stream of family and friends just stopping by for a visit and a glass of wine, and of course, dinner with her on Friday nights. Those wonderful memories will live on forever. You can always feel comfort in knowing that she loved you dearly and she was so proud of you. Thank you for sharing her love with me. - Teri

To the family.... you are in my thoughts and prayers, Colleen was a wonderful person one of my favorites and the family was just as wonderful. Colleen will always know how ❤️ loved she was. Your family was the best i have ever met and Colleen was so fortunate to have ALL of you. I will miss not only Colleen but the whole family....... and all the wonderful friends she had, Fran, Teri, and Christi and so many more.. I will truly miss her and be praying for all.
