Obituary

MONONA-Andrew “Andy” Anderson, age 79, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017.  Andy was born on March 1, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Oscar (from Sweden) and Marie (from Boscobel) Anderson.  Andy attended Madison East High School where he played football, basketball and ran track.  He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonardwood, Mo., as a heavy equipment operator, and later an instructor from 1956 to 1957.  He retired from the U.S. Postal service in 1992 after 33 years.  Andy then worked several years part-time for Kwik Trip and Proctor and Gamble.  He was a past member of The Moose Club and Madison Elks Club.  Andy is survived by his children, Jill of St. Pete, Fla., and Drew (Yuki) of Riverview, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Laurie of Apple Valley, Minn.; son-in-law, Robert; grandchildren, Sam and Kyle of Apple Valley, Minn.; Zach and Madeline of Riverview, Fla., and Kent of Boston, Mass.; great-grandson, Ramone; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Eric.  On the “lighter side”, Andy bowled a 722 at Dream Lanes, had a hole-in-one at Trapper’s Turn in Wisconsin Dells, caught a skinny 43” musky on Lake Waubesa and won the Cow Chip Toss at Golden Fun Days in DeForest.  To family and friends:  Yes, I do have regrets.  There are things I wish I had not done and things I should have done.  And then there are many things I’m happy to have done.  It’s all in a lifetime.  God Bless to all who read this (and the Dairyland Café crowd) and God Bless America. A graveside service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Dr., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, with the Rev. Stephen Marsh from Lake Edge Lutheran Church presiding.

I never met Andy in person but we have been internet friends for nearly 20 years. He was a man of strong opinion, a love of family and someone who would send his internet buddies Christmas cards. I will miss him.

Andy was one of the first online friends I ever made. He loved to make people laugh and was there to listen when you had a problem. He was a great friend even though we never met face to face and I will miss his jokes and his emails and I will just plain miss him. RIP my friend I will see you on the other side. You have fought your battle and now it is done, Time to rest, your day is done. You left sunshine in your wake and made the world a better place. A bit of stardust blew away the day you closed your eyes for good.
