My first time meeting Michael was when he joined the Eastside Sharks Football team. He was much smaller than the other kids and I worried so much about him but he had a huge heart and determination and got right in there and played his game. I've also had the pleasure of watching him play Baseball through Kennedy Little league over the years. Such a great person and he will be missed by many!

We remember Mike as an athlete, teammate and friend. Initially in baseball, at Kennedy, then on cross country and track at LaFollette. He was determined, passionate and resolute. He worked hard and strove to excel. It was a thrill to see him soar across the finish line on Saturday with almost the entire field behind him. His grit was evident in every stride. Mike's presence will be sorely missed and all of us in his LaFollette family will always remember him. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family at this time of terrible tragedy. Our prayers are with you. Mike, Jennifer, George and Sean Philbin

On behalf of Kennedy Elementary School, please accept our deepest sympathy. His life was too short, but had a memorable impact on so many of us. He was caring, generous, and was a leader in so many ways. May your loving memories, bring you peace in coming days.
