Obituary

MADISON-Julianne "Julie" Edna Ferderer, age 76, of Madison, peacefully passed away on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at her home, surrounded by family. Julie was born on Feb. 17, 1941, in Red Lake Falls, Minn., the daughter of Felix and Eva (Perreault) Raymond.  She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Red Lake Falls High School, Class of 1959.  After graduation, Julie moved to Minneapolis and began work at Honeywell Aerospace Division.   Julie married Robert (Bob) Ferderer on Oct. 13, 1962 in Minneapolis.   Shortly thereafter, Bob’s job with IBM took them to Orleans, France. In Orleans, sons Kevin and Lee were born.  After four years in Europe, their young family moved back to Rochester, MN where son Mark was born and then Troy, MI, where Michael was born.   After yet another IBM move, this time to Peekskill, N.Y., Julie earned her real estate brokers license and started a real estate career that lasted almost 30 years. In 1978 Julie and Bob moved the family one last time to Madison, WI. In Madison, Julie joined First Realty (now First Weber) where she worked for 25 years, retiring in 2002.  Bob’s retirement followed shortly after, and with retirement came another kind of journey, this one involving a motor home. In their first decade of retirement, Julie and Bob visited all continental U.S. states (49), all Provinces of Canada, and six states of Mexico.  Eventually they “settled down,” summering in Madison and wintering in Tucson, Ariz., where she welcomed a host of new friendships.  She also found time to rediscover her talent for water color painting, and expand her creativity into hobbies like beading and photography. Julie will be most remembered by family and friends for her selflessness, courage, and bright spirit, her unwavering Catholic faith, and the joy she took in spending time with those she loved, including her grandchildren, to whom she will always be “G Mom.”  She will be deeply missed.  Julie is survived by her husband, Bob of 54 years and their four sons, Kevin Ferderer and granddaughter Julaya 12, Lee Ferderer (Barbara Oswald) and grandson Nicholas 15, Mark (Diana) Ferderer and grandsons Zachary 19 and Andrew 15, and Michael Ferderer.  In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Carol (Bruce) Foster, Diane (Vern) Nowacki; three brothers, James Raymond, Michael (Sherry) Raymond and Wayne (Ruth) Raymond.  Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Eva Raymond of Red Lake Falls, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding.  A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center, 600 Highland Ave., Madison, WI. 53792.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
