SAUK PRAIRIE-Audrey Nona Wing, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk Prairie with her oldest daughter and two of her grandsons by her side. She was born in Madison on March 22, 1926, the daughter of Glen and Adelia Sherman. Audrey graduated from Madison East High School. She was united in marriage to Don Wing on June 12, 1947. Audrey worked for American Family Insurance for several years before her retirement. She loved spending time with family and making things for all of them. Audrey held many talents that included knitting afghans and dishcloths, working with ceramics and rosemaling. For several years, she volunteered during the annual Syttende Mai Festival weekends in Stoughton, in the rosemaling area. Audrey loved the outdoors, taking walks, dancing, and traveling to St. Germaine to drive around looking for deer. She was brought up with a family who had dogs for pets, but had a cat in the last years of her life that she adored. She had a great sense of humor and loved to see and make people laugh. Audrey is survived by her six children, Mary, Dennis (Judy), David, Duane (Connie), Patty (Dean) and Luanne (Dean); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters and one brother. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. My sincere sympathy to each of you for your loss. Psalms 90:10 says that the usual life span is 70 or 80 years. When man was created, it was God's purpose that he would live forever. Romans 5:12 explains why sickness and death occurs. His purpose has not changed. He assures us that he will restore life to all who are in his memory right here on earth under the best conditions.

My sincere condolences to the Wing family for the loss of your mother. I have many fond memories of my time spent with the Wing family while dating Dennis. Audrey and my mother became, and remained, good friends up until my mother's death in 1993. They always enjoyed rosemaling together. I was pleased to read in her obituary that she continued on with rosemaling throughout her life.. Blessings....

Patty, I remember spending time at your house and watching your mom busy knitting something wonderful for someone.....and I never knew what rosemaling was until your mom explained it. I have very fond memories of her. So sorry for your loss.

Sincere sympathy to Audrey's family. I worked with her at American Family and she was such a sweet lady. We exchanged Christmas cards every year and I loved hearing about her family.
