OREGON-Susan Kay “Susie" Dunn, age 64, of Oregon, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 22, 2017, after a long and arduous battle with brain cancer. She was born on Nov. 6, 1952, In Oregon. Susie was united in marriage to James Lee "Jim" Dunn on Aug. 19, 1972, and together they lived within sight of the farm where she was raised. Susie's infectious laughter and her ability to find humor in life made all those who met her feel special and inspired. She enjoyed escaping to her cabin in Hayward and retreating to her quiet oasis she called "Beaver Lake". Susie worked for the Oregon School District for 31 years. Many students and coworkers found their way to Susie's desk for a treat, for a laugh, for a hug or for some pure honest truth. Susie cherished her friends and their social gatherings. Parties, whether spontaneous or planned, were just simple opportunities to unite in laughter and genuine fun. She also remained very devoted to her family. Susie loved her husband, she loved her children, she loved her two special grandchildren, and her grand puppies. Everyone who knew Susie knew she was perfection. That mold was broken for there will never be another. Her smile and generous heart will be missed by her family, friends and the community. Susie Is survived by her husband of almost 45 years, Jim; two children, Peter (Angela) Dunn of Oregon and Kelle (CJ) Postawa of Cottage Grove; two grandchildren, Trace "TJ" and Katherine "Katie" Dunn of Oregon; one sister, Jackie (Tom) McFarland of Queen Creek, Ariz.; one brother, Elmer (Lorene) Fosso of Oregon; and other relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and Jim's parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017. Susie gave us so much to remember. Please bring a favorite photo and/or memory to share with the family and place it in the memory jar available at the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg or UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Agrace HospiceCare and UW Hospital for their exceptional care. We have been blessed with much love for our family through these caring professionals. Much like Susie’s parents before her, she loved her family, she loved her friends and she loved to laugh. Susie will be greatly missed but her spirit will not be soon forgotten.

Susie was such a kind soul. I have wonderful memories of coming into the work room at school and she would be there listening to Magic 98 and was always good for a conversation. I am traveling in Europe and won't make it to the funeral, but I am thinking of Susie and my heart goes out to her family. She was a gem, for sure. Mary Prior

Susie was one of the "4 Susies" in one building when I started at Oregon. She was welcoming, helpful, dedicated, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Whenever I drove past your parents house I would look for you, walking down the road. I wish you peace.

What a wonderful lady! Always laughing, always smiling, always goofing around. She was one of the best colleagues and friends over the span of many years. I still smile whenever I see a can of beans... can anyone else see an open can of refried beans on her desk? I am honored to have known her, worked with her and been part of her world.
