MADISON- It was impossible for Sharon McHugh to care too much. She expressed her caring nature right up to her peaceful passing, at age 70, on Monday, July 17, 2017, while surrounded by family at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.Sharon was a caring person in so many ways, but the best place to start is with her cooking, because there is perhaps no better way to show how much she cared about her husband, Michael, and two children, Kelli (Todd) Schmidt and Craig, than the delicious meals she prepared for them night after night, month after month, year after year. You’re worse off if you never had her stuffing.Sharon wed Michael on May 13, 1972, in Reedsburg and they settled in Madison, but Sharon grew up a farm girl and attended a one-room schoolhouse. She helped her parents, John “Arnold” (deceased) and Norma (nee Levy) Bulin, and siblings, Dianne (Henry) Schultz and Wayne (Judy), care for the family farm in La Valle. Yep, she knew how to milk a cow.Sharon had the tremendous joy of helping provide child care for her grandchildren, Hannah, 9, and Trevor, 6, while their mother, Kelli, worked. They kept Grandma on her toes, but she “loved them to pieces.” Sharon was also a loving aunt to Wendy, Tammy, Brooke, Hillary, Bobbie Ann, Colin and Casey.She was a homemaker until her children reached middle-school age, when she began a career as a receptionist spanning nearly two decades with the Family Support and Resource Center, which provides resources to support and care for children with disabilities and their families.Sharon was a Wisconsin girl, born April 29, 1947, in Reedsburg, so of course she cared about the Badgers and Packers. And no matter how poorly they played the first half, she was certain the second half would be a different story. Her other interests included playing cards; reading; crossword puzzles; watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Dancing with the Stars”; and investment club meetings, bowling and lunches with friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST.
