Donald Godfried Faust

FITCHBURG/MONONA-Donald G. Faust, 88, passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Heritage Monona.  He was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Madison, the son of Rudolph and Margaret Faust.  Donald attended Madison East High School.  He was united in marriage to Anna M. Chille on Jan. 29, 1949, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison. Donald was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge No. 410. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting elk, bear and deer in Colorado.  Don loved salmon fishing on Lake Michigan, walleye fishing on Lake Erie, and fifty years of duck hunting on Crystal Lake.  He also enjoyed smoking salmon which he shared with his family and friends.  Don had a lifelong love of working in his vegetable garden which he started doing as a young boy. He was a superintendent for J.H. Findorff & Son for over 35 years.  Don constructed numerous large buildings in Madison and Milwaukee including the Milwaukee Center, UW Hospital and various state and university buildings. Don is survived by his twin daughters, Linda (Randy) Marks of Verona and Lucinda (Randy) Munn of Monona; son James (Sheri) Faust of Caldwell, Idaho; grandchildren, Kristi Sanfelippo, Bradley (Tara) Munn, Mark Cornell and Bradley Faust; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Lauren Sanfelippo, and Drew and Alex Munn; sister, Darlene Blankenheim; brother, Kenneth Faust; sisters-in-law Caryl Faust, Lois Kvammen, Sara Preez and Margaret Kerber; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna on Oct. 25, 2016; his parents, Rudolph and Margaret Faust; sister, Dolores Gerry; brothers-in-law, Bud Gerry, Jeff Blankenheim, Ralph Preez and Norm Kvammen; nephew, Randall Preez; niece, Cheryl and husband Bruce Mjaanes; and  grandson-in-law, Tony Sanfelippo. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, with the Rev. Father Chad Droessler presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.  He will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park.
