Obituary

MADISON- Dan R. “Big D” Horgen, age 63, of Monona, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on March 14, 1954, in Plymouth, the son of Julian and Dorothy Horgen. He married Connie on Jan. 20, 1979, in Monona at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Dan graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1972. Dan was self-employed in the automotive industry for most of his life. He enjoyed the Packers, Badgers, Bucks and Brewers.  Dan's passion was old cars. He was very outgoing and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Dan is survived by his wife of 38 years, Connie; and son, Dan Horgen. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Following the Celebration of Dan's life, there will be a gathering at Antlers Tavern. Dear Connie and Dan Junior, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dan as he was a lifelong friend of mine and you can only imagine all of the wonderful times and laughs we had together over the 50+ years I knew him. He will always hold a special place in my heart and will be remembered as a special and very dear friend that was always there for you when you needed him. To the family and friends, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. When Jesus was on earth his friend Lazarus died. He was in the tomb for 4 days already when Jesus arrived. Mary and Martha, Lazarus' sisters were grieving and Jesus gave way to tears. Jesus compared death to sleep. He called to Lazarus and Lazarus came back to life!
