Marleigh enjoyed many of the finer things in life, but nothing could make her eyes light up as surely as a big bowl of fresh berries from Steve's Enderby garden. Here she is enjoying both red and black raspberries with her morning cereal. She helped prepare the berries and freeze the excess, but often left Steve to do the picking, especially the black raspberries whose canes have vicious thorns. She really excelled at eating them, though Steve could almost keep up.

There is so much that we loved about Marleigh! All her collaborators at Fermilab benefitted by knowing her and working with her. Inside our particle-physics experiments and beyond, Marleigh was especially dedicated to encouraging young researchers and international collaboration. She has a huge number of enthusiastic physics offspring around the world.

Marleigh was one of the best liked collaborators on E791, keeping all of us in good cheer with her clever quips and funny remarks. Her efforts at understanding the composition of our incident particle beam still come clearly to mind, as do her many contributions to instrumentation summer schools that helped our younger collaborators. I'm sure many recall several enjoyable evening dinner conversations which included Marleigh.

From Peter Garbincius
Besides being a trusted colleague on the FOCUS charm photoproduction experiment and friend, Marleigh was just a nice person. One memory: when I mentioned that my daughter Ellen was going to Wisconsin-Madison, Marleigh volunteered that Ellen should call on her if she ever needed help or assistance in Madison.
One other memory was that on FOCUS, I preferred the 4 AM - noon shift. It was quiet up until about 8 AM and I was able to run my collection of CDs on the experiment monitoring computer. When Marleigh arrived, she would always say, "Get rid of that Scott Joplin. It makes this place seem like .... something or other."
Too bad. I think the whole world loved Marleigh. Seems like she loved the whole world too.

My memories of Marleigh go back to days of the Hyperon beam at
Fermilab. We primarily made measurements of the magnetic moments of both
the neutral and charged hyperons. These were almost text book experiments.
Marleigh was responsible for the online data acquisition system.
She did an excellent job for both the online system and of mentoring the students.
We had some truly outstanding students. Occasionally, I would have dinner with
Marleigh at a Mexican restaurant, and I would enjoy finding out what was happening.
