Obituary
OREGON-Tana Marie (Knutson) Palmer, a lifelong resident of Oregon, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on Oct. 8, 1943, the daughter of Clinton and Viola (Gunderson) Knutson. She was united in marriage to John Palmer on July 6, 1985. Tana worked for Associated Security for over 15 years until her retirement. She enjoyed playing bridge, Concerts on the Square, traveling, going to the theatre with friends, shopping and reading. Tana especially loved spending time with her family. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Oregon. Tana is survived by son, Steven (Deb) Magee and their daughter, Megan; son, Darren (Cathy) Magee and their children, Balin, Ava and Elena; mother-in-law, Helen Palmer; step-son, Jason (Carrie) Palmer and their children, Julian and Elise; siblings, Philayne (Tom) Chose, Keith (Kim Dowat) Knutson, Brian Knutson, Kurt (Renee) Knutson, Bruce (Susan) Knutson, Tryg (Pam) Knutson and Kari Knutson; and nieces and nephews, Nick (Maureen) Chose and their children, Ted and Lucy; Joe (Kristen) Chose and their children, Campbell, Jack and Charlie; Johanna (Mike) Ayers; Karina (Martin) Bolanos and their son, Julian; Maria Miani Knutson; Nina Knutson and her son, Adoniron; Grace, Sophie and Anna Knutson and Gunther, Stener and Signe Knutson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John Palmer. A memorial service will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 408 North Bergamont Blvd., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, with the Rev. Kathleen Owens presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Inurnment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church. Tana is one of the most generous persons we have ever known; sharing her love and generosity with family, friends and her church, but just as often with strangers she met along the way. Throughout her life she enriched the lives of so many.
We fondly remember many special times with Tana and John - including UW hockey games, Concerts on the Square with Tana’s heavy cooler packed with a gourmet picnic supper in tow and our hunt for the best ever Friday night fish fry.
As we celebrate Tana’s life, many wonderful memories will always be in our hearts.

I was in Oregon on Wednesday and Thursday last week and "out of the blue" I wondered how Tana was doing and then I saw her obituary in the paper. Tana and I grew up in the same neighborhood. She was one of the neighborhood gang. Tana will be missed by many especially her family. Special thoughts go to Steve, Darren and Philayne and their families.
