Thomas Colin McSherry

MADISON-Thomas Colin McSherry, age 73, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his home. He was born on Feb. 28, 1944, in Madison, the son of John C. and Nora (Davis) McSherry.  Tom graduated from Dodgeville High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany during Vietnam in the 32nd Army Air Defense Command.  He worked for Oscar Mayer for 37 years, retiring in 2004.  Tom was an avid fisherman and birdwatcher who enjoyed astronomy, meteorology and a car racing enthusiast.  He was also a naturalist and an accomplished artist.  Thomas is survived by his son, Colin (Jodi) McSherry; brothers, John (Sally) McSherry, Patrick (Victoria) McSherry and Michael (Gina) McSherry; brother-in-law, Kenneth Erfurth; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth in 1996; and a sister, Mary Irene Erfurth.  A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, with a time of sharing at 6 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
