MARSHALL-Thomas Lee Elifritz, age 59, of Marshall, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. He was born on April 20, 1958, in Madison, the son of Carl and Nan (Gundlach) Elifritz.Thomas graduated from DeForest High School and attended UW-Madison. He worked as a self-employed grant writer. Thomas is survived by two sisters, Dana L. (Erich) Parpart and Karen Lynn (Gary) Schwebs; brother, James Carter (Sandra) Elifritz; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sue Ann Holguin. Private family services are planned. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. I was very surprised and saddened to hear of Tommy's death. I have many memories of him as he cared for his mom Nan when I was her volunteer. What a wonderful person! My sincere sympathy to all.

We've known Tommy since 2001- he hadn't been back to The Bahamas for several years but, knowing how much he loved it here, we always thought that one day when the mailboat arrived, Tommy would be on it. He was a wonderful and well-loved friend to all of us here: brimming with goodwill, funny, strange, brilliant, thoughtful, quirky and, altogether, a unique individual and a very important person in our small community. As I say, we always believed that we'd see him here again... now we've just learned that he'll never be coming back and it'll take us a long, long time to reconcile ourselves to his permanent absence. Tommy, all of your friends here- the people, the doves, the pittamadicks, the curly-tailed lizards, the rays, even the barracuda- we miss you!
