COTTAGE GROVE - James M. Hauge, age 88, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Rainbow Hospice. He was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, the son of John and Dorothy (Larson) Hauge.
Jim graduated from Stoughton High School and married Gloria Lee Hauge (deceased) in 1956, Shirley Rockney Hauge (deceased) in 1984, and Rachel Thompson Hauge in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army in 1956-58. He founded and ran Jim's Repair and Sales for over 30 years, fixing small engines in the Stoughton area, until he retired in 1995. Jim was a master craftsman and woodworker and enjoyed the outdoors: fishing, photography, mowing his expansive lawn and especially, mining treasures from garage sales to bless family and friends before reselling what was left. He was an enthusiastic member of City Church, greeting at its doors for decades.
Jim is survived by his wife, Rachel; son, Kerry (Michelle) Hauge; daughter, Kim (Tim) Smith; son, Gregory (Eva) Hauge; son, Wade (Audrey) Hauge; son, Jason Hauge; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Mark) Aylesworth; stepson, Mark Severson; Shirley’s daughters, Nancy, Judy and Sandy; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and brother, Darrell (Patricia) Hauge. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Colleen Hauge and Rhonda Huettl; and his stepson, John Severson.
A funeral service will be held at CITY CHURCH, 4909 E. Buckeye Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022. Burial will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Garden following the service. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
