CROSS PLAINS - Roger R. Brumm, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2017. Roger was born on Nov. 16, 1936, the son of Vern Brumm and Violis (Esser) Elliott . He graduated from Middleton High School and Madison Business College. He operated Roger’s Gas and Fuel Oil for over 50 years. He was a lifelong sports fan and player. Roger was united in marriage to Phyllis Breunig. He was a wonderful dad to Joaline (Steve) Judd and Jill (Tom) Moutvic, a very proud grandpa of Benjamin (Erin) Judd, Kelsey and Connor Moutvic, and great-grandpa to Roman Judd. Roger was preceded in death by his wife; parents; great-grandson, Bryce Judd; in-laws, Bernice and Clarence Breunig, Al Wipperfurth, Corky and Duane Cook, Dick Dresen, Clarence “Butch” Breunig and Chuck Olson; aunts and uncles, Bernie and Roman Esser, Phyllis and Del Esser; cousin, Wanda (Ed) Post. He is survived by in-laws, Ann Wipperfurth, Stella Dresen, Mary Ann and Stan Breunig, Pat and Phil Breunig, Pat and Ron Paska, Mary Olson, Diann and Al Breunig; cousins, Wayne (Janet) Esser, Mike(Mary) Esser, Mary Ellen(Rick) Hill, Jane (Buddy) Busch, Patti (Tom) Bellissimo; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 am on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, with Father Tom Kelley presiding. Family will greet friends at church from 9:30 am until time of service. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall at ST. FRANCIS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy, Fitchburg, WI 53711 or St. Francis Xavier endowment fund. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your father was always very kind to me and my children. Both of your parents were so welcoming when we moved next door to them. I have missed having them next door but do have fond memories of the many conversations we shared in our driveways.

Dear Jill, Jolene and Families,
We are very sorry to hear about the loss of your Father, Roger. Roger was an enjoyable guy to be with. We had many fun time with both your mom and dad usually around a Wisconsin athletic event.
My best memories of Roger are joining him for coffee in Cross Plains, or a cold beer and after dinner sharing a Drambue. Also, being a roommate with Roger while traveling with Jimmy K. We spent a lot of time looking for a left handed shovel for him.
We are sorry we are unable to join you for his service but we are traveling at thus time.
Our prayers are with you at this difficult time.

To the family of Roger Brumm. I had the good fortune of meeting Roger through my former colleague at Mobil, Dick Holt. Dick and Roger were business acquaintances and best friends, and through Dick, my wife and I met Roger and Phyllis. We enjoyed many good times at Badger games, and Dick and I and Roger went to the Indy 500 race in 1992 and had a wonderful time. After Dick passed on, I kept in touch with Roger for quite a few years, but drifted apart due to our geographic disconnection. We often talked on the phone, but had not heard from him for a while, and attempted to call him in November, without success. I now know why.
I have read the posted notes herein, and can attest to all of the nice things that were said about Roger. He and Phyllis are fond memories, and are surely missed. His devotion to Phyllis, his mother and daughters will be his legacy. I only hope that the void that is in the minds of the family will be filled with great memories of such wonderful people. May they both rest in peace. Their memories live on in memoriam.
