Thomas A Stoeberl

MADISON-Thomas A. Stoeberl, age 54, of Madison, drifted into the arms of the Lord after a long illness surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at UW Hospital.  He was born on July 26, 1962, in Madison, the son of George and Mary Ann (Weiske) Stoeberl. Tom graduated from La Follette High School, class of 1980. He married the love of his life, Diane Stoeberl on June 18, 1988.  Tom served in the U.S. Air National Guard for six years.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a tractor trailer operator after 23 years. He also worked for Madison Freight Systems. Tom was a long-time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he was baptized, had his First Communion and was confirmed. He spent lots of time volunteering as a server, an usher, on the pastoral counsel, on the vocation committee and more.  Growing up, Tom enjoyed hunting with his father.  He was involved in many of his children's sporting events and activities, including coaching baseball, basketball and football, timed for track, and sat through many dance recitals and gymnastics competitions. Tom enjoyed the family's annual road trips. He was a devoted father and loving husband. Everything he did was for his family.  Thomas is survived by his wife, Diane, of 29 years; children, Hilary (Nick Hancock) Stoeberl, Maranda (Josh) Zamber, Amelia Stoeberl and George Stoeberl; siblings, Gerald (Amber) Stoeberl, Carol (Robert) Sliwka, Margaret (Craig) Marvin and Teresa (John Kleist) Raffel; good friend, Jim Raffel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Jerome and Kathryn Triggs; a special aunt and uncle, Dorothy and George Thompson; and many other aunts and uncles.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at  11 a.m. on  Saturday, June 10, 2017, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Tom's family wishes to extend a special thank you to not only his doctor, but his friend, Dr. Sam Lubner.
