Alvin "Chip" Thomas
January 09, 1963 - May 30, 2017
Obituary
MOUNT HOREB-Alvin “Chip” Thomas of Mount Horeb, age 54, died in a tragic motorcycle accident on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Chip is survived by his two children, Savannah and Jory Thomas; and their mother, former wife, Diane Deane; his mother, Tinia Jo Thomas; and sister, Stacy (Robert) Ratsch. A “transplant” to Wisconsin, Chip was born and raised in Southern California. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and retired as a First Class Hull Technician after 20 years of service. In 2001, he began his civilian career at Latitude Corp. in Verona, Wis., as a welding shop supervisor and then took charge of the fabrication department. About a year ago, Chip accepted a position with CleaverBrooks in Monroe, Wis., as a CNC machine programmer. Chip had an exceptional work ethic and loved welding. It was apparent by how well he did his job. He was not only a trainer and supervisor, but a mentor and trustworthy friend to countless shipmates and co-workers. Chip added a “family” to his sea-bag in 1994 when he married Diane Deane and their first child was born. Chip’s love for his family could easily be seen by his actions. He was a wonderful, dedicated father who always put his family first. When Chip wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing video games with his children, riding his motorcycle, golfing, grilling, and kicking back in the sun with a beer and a book. A Celebration Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 3, 2017, with a time of remembrance at 1 p.m. and military honors to follow at 2 p.m. “Fair winds and following seas. Chip Thomas was my Best friend, Navy buddy and one of the best Hull technitions I knew in Long Beach, California. Sima. We shot darts a lot chip & chief Ashcroft showed me how to shot. I was chips chubby buddy as he called me, I had some girth about my middle. We had a good friend ship Chip was like a little brother that I looked up to for many things, stationed at L.B.Sima. In 1994 I went to Texas to a Sima there Chip off to a Ship we lost contact until a few years ago, I talked the first time for a few hours it was like we were never apart that long. I Loved chip as a good friend and a brother, as most all who ever met Chip Thomas. I will miss you Chip, as you sail upon clouds in Heaven. Far winds following seas my ship mate, I'll see you again when I get my orders from the heavenly detailer and we will sail the heavens forever your chubby buddy HT2 Brew.

Alvin you will always be remembered lovingly and in my heart forever.
As a boy you were a joy to be around and as a man you were a good father who guided
his children respectfully and with humor.
Know your family will be taken care of and i will be there if they need me.
We will all meet again so keep an eye on the gate and Grannie and Papa.
