Obituary
MIDDLETON-Rita Frances Springman, age 97, of Middleton, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Oakwood Hebron Oaks. She was born on November 5, 1920, in Roxbury, WI, the daughter of Albert and Johanna (Rueter) Loeser. Rita graduated from Middleton Union High School and Madison Business College. She married William John Springman on June 28, 1941 in St Bernard’s Church, Middleton. She went on to work in the family owned Chicken Shack Restaurant, Schwab and Schwartz Grocery and Dry Goods, and IGA Groceries retiring in 1985. She was a member of St Bernard Congregation, an avid quilter and cross stitcher, and enjoyed dancing and euchre. Rita and Bill owned a cottage in St. Germain for many years where they and the family spent many happy times. Rita is survived by her two daughters, Tracy Wendt, and Judy (Gary) Fox, her three sons, Phil (Linda Josheff), Dave (Denice), and Steve, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and three sisters, and a daughter-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave, Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 15, 2018, with Fr. Brian Wilk presiding. Burial will be at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice or St Bernard’s Church. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My prayers and sympathy to all of the family. I remember your Mother’s beautiful smile. She always had time to chat whenever I saw her, especially at the many places she worked in Middleton. As a child it was a very special treat to go to the Chicken Shack for a delicious meal. My Mom used to get chicken broth there for her chicken soup. You have many memories to see you through your loss.

Phil and family…. Our sympathies to all. Rita was a hoot! Enjoyed her company and will hold dear the times we did share. Wish we experienced the Chicken Shack days, sounded delightful and delicious!
