Marion Eichler Smith

MADISON/OAK LAWN, IL-Marion E. Smith, died peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2017, after an extended illness. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on July 9, 1925.  She met her husband, Lawrence Smith, while attending college in Iowa.  They eloped in 1945 and lived in Jacksonville, Florida, while he served in the Navy.  They raised their family in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and she lived in the family house for 48 years. Marion was an independent woman after her husband’s death, in 1995.  At the age of 75, she moved to Madison to be closer to her daughter and her family.  Marion loved gardening and playing bridge. She volunteered at her church and for the Madison Red Cross blood drives.  Marion is survived by her two children, David (Patsy) Smith and Sandra (Robert) Bolles; granddaughter Kelly Knott (Jesus Padilla Rodriguez); and great grandchildren Ricky and Oli.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers.  The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care and support during this difficult time.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
