Obituary
MADISON-Daniel John Hamilton, age 70, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Sept. 24, 1946, in Madison, the son of John and Jean Hamilton. Daniel graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, Class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. Daniel had a long career as a jeweler in the family business, Aviation Jewelry. He was an avid sports fan, pheasant hunter and loved his dogs. Daniel is survived by his sons, Chad Hamilton, Shane (Amy Davis) Hamilton; sister, Rebecca (Bob) Doolittle; brother, Peter (Karen) Hamilton; loving companion, Susan Abplanalp; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. A burial at East Cemetery in Westfield, Wis., will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Daniel my brother, I will love you always. Every day in the hospital I would get my strength and comfort from lookimg out the window down at the beautiful little waterfall and stream and I kept thinkimg of the 23rd. Psalm. "He leadeth me beside the still waters."......"Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever" My nephew shane actually postef a picture of the beautiful watetfall .

To the family of Dan....being a owner of the Coliseum Bar, we always looked forward to Dan and Chad riding the bus to his favorite Badger events, then returning for what he said was the best pizza in town. May you rest in piece.

Dan delivered library materials to the Monona Public Library and was always a jovial and friendly person to see. I am happy to have known him, even if so briefly. I am saddened by his passing.

My mom and I live across the street from Dan and his sons, and we can't believe Dan is gone. Just a month or so back, he came over to talk to me about my recent knee replacement. When Shane came over yesterday to break the news about Dan's death, I thought it was going to be news that Dan was recovering from the knee replacement. We were especially caught off-guard, because Dan was so youthful that both my mom and I guessed his current age as "52". We only learned he was 70 from his obit today. Dan and his family were (are) great neighbors. We are very happy that Shane and Chad will stay on as our neighbors, but will really miss our occasional front yard chats with Dan.
