LAUREL, MISS.-Wayne William Lien, age 70, of Laurel, Miss., passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison, Wis. He was born on Jan. 8, 1947, in Milwaukee, the son of Orland and Dorothy (Zautner) Lien. He enjoyed traveling with his family in his younger years, especially snorkeling and metal detecting on the beach. Wayne graduated from West Allis Central in Milwaukee. He received his Master's degree from UW Madison in Theoretical Physics and Electrical Power and Machines Engineering. Wayne took pride in his creativity and talent as an inventor. He had received dozens of patents for his work in electrical engineering. He was an animal lover who enjoyed spending time with his six dogs and Matty, the cat. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Murphy; son, Kelly Lien; granddaughters, Skye Lien, Ava Murphy, Isabella Murphy and Josslyn Murphy; great-grandson, Weston Wayne Wells; and brother, Dennis (Judy) Lien; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The family would like to give special thanks to close friends, Tim and Rachel Bush-Howell and Michael Knight whose support allowed him to live independently throughout the years. Wayne was a very interesting man. As a child, my favorite family vacations were going to his house in Laurel. He always opened his home to visitors even the four -legged and furry ones. His big heart and creative antics will be forever missed from this world. Hope to see him still smiling in the next. Love you Wayne.

One of the first and best was when I was supposed to be baby sitting him , but I was going to play with my friends ! There was a woods by 76th and Oklahoma when we lived at 73rd and Cleveland Ave and I told him to stay in our yard because there were BEARS in the woods!! When we finally found him he was in the woods with our Red Rider wagon and moms woman's shovel looking for the bear because he had heard all about bear hunting !! He had walked almost 3/4 of a mile through woods and farm fields for his first bear hunt at about 4 years old and I got a whooping , one of many he caused !!

Im proud to have been a friend of Wayne's! He could make you laugh when you wanted to cry! Wayne was very smart and one of the sweetest people I know! Rest In Peace my friend❤️❤️

I just learned of Wayne's passing three years after the fact. Wayne was a high school friend of ours. We often walked down 76th street to and from West Allis Central, along with Mike Donovan, together (Mike sadly passed away one year ago). We had similar athletic interests , and were in the same grades. Wayne was smart and had an enjoyable sense of humor. While our paths never crossed again after graduation, I still remember some of his funny one-liners and have thought of him often over the years. While as high schoolers, and still in our formative years, Wayne was a class act and someone I admired. Those who knew Wayne are better people for the experience.
