Hilda Jarona

MADISON-Hilda A. Jarona, age 95, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Hilda was born on July 27, 1921, in Belleville, and was welcomed to her large French family of ten children and resided on the family farm for many happy years. She married Anthony Jarona Sr. on March 29, 1948, and celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to his death and raised four children together. Hilda was employed at Oscar Mayer Foods Corporation for 39 years as a production employee and was hired on her 23rd birthday. She and Tony traveled on many cross country trips with their young family and in later years with their retired friends. Hilda loved their trips to Las Vegas to play keno and slots and enjoyed much success at the casino. Card parties, church, family time, grandchildren and holiday gatherings were a few of the activities Hilda relished. She followed current events and politics daily and was full of opinions. Hilda was a lovely lady who was concerned about others and had a ready smile on her face. Hilda is survived by her four children, Anthony (Priscilla), Theresa (Jerry) Gohre, Patricia (Marc Stafford) and Thomas (Susan) Jarona. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and especially Thomas and Ann Stassi. She was preceded in death by her husband; Tony; and numerous siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017. The family respectfully suggests donations to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Heart Association. A very special thanks to the physicians, nurses and health professionals at SSM cardiac care and the emergency staff. Also to Dr. Dimaggio who cared for Hilda for many, many years.
