Raymon L. Talley

OREGON- Raymon Lee Talley, age 61, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. He was born on Aug. 21, 1955, the son of Arthur and Ellen (Baker) Talley, in Los Angeles, Calif. Uprooting to the Midwest, Ray attended and graduated from Moline, (Ill.) High School. He graduated with an associate's degree in music from Blackhawk Technical College, Moline Ill and attended UW Madison.He was a loyal advocate for the Oregon Public School District, working as an educational assistant, and was well loved by many students and fellow educators. Music was Ray's passion, as a talented keyboardist, he was a founding member of the band "Mid Life Crisis." He shared his musical strengths with many other bands such as, "Bittersweet," "Stormin Norman Band," "ZBM" & "Geneva." Ray enjoyed further educating and challenging himself, with his studies of science and genetics, he was also a great asset and team member of Professor Fred Blattner's Genetics Lab. He saw much delight in computer technology and roleplaying games, and relished the time spent putting pen to paper, whether writing stories or participating in writer's workshops. Ray had a deep appreciation for Native American history and issues, along with a very progressive political compass, known to be a professed screaming Liberal. Raymon is survived by his two daughters, Sara Ellen Talley and DeEtte Lynne Talley; ex-wife, Robin Louise Talley; and brother, Robert Leroy (Linda) Talley. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLE'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 N. Alpine Parkway, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 4, 2017, with Pastor Jason Mahnke presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
