Obituary
MADISON-Rodney George "Rod" Wilson, age 73, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was born April 20, 1944 in Madison, the son of George and Coral (Thompson) Wilson. Rod was united in marriage to Janice Peterson on July 24, 1965. They lived and raised their children in Madison. Rod retired from the Post Office after 31 years of service. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and ushering at St. Matthew's New Life Church. Rod enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Mexico and Jamaica with his wife, Jan and golfing and shooting dice with his golfing buddies. Rod is survived by his wife, Jan; son, John (Julie); daughter, Jill (Jim) Burgus; three grandchildren, Trevor and Troy Wilson and Jessi McConachie; brother, Darrell (Lynne) Wilson; sister-in-law, Trish (Patrick Bucholtz); and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law, Albert and Regina Peterson. A Celebration of Rod's life will be held at ST. MATTHEWS NEW LIFE CHURCH, 7564 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, at Noon, on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be gifted in Rod's name to Dane County Humane Society, Agrace HospiceCare or St. Matthew's New Life Church. ☹️I liked Rod. I invited him to my poker group a couple times. Rod had a rye sense of humor I liked. I had no idea he was ill. Good man. My pleasure to have known him.
