WAUNAKEE-Wallace A. "Wally" Anderson, age 87, of Waunakee, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Nov. 13, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Andrew and Ethel Anderson. Wally served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Mary (Johnson) Anderson on Sept. 18, 1953, in Little Rock, Ark. Wally worked as an electrician and retired from Cooper Power. He loved the Lord and had a servant's heart. Wally loved to help others in any way he could, from connecting foreign missionaries with their children in the states via shortwave radio to a simple act of kindness, like hanging pictures for a neighbor. He enjoyed his family and friends and was always planning trips to visit with them. Wally is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Bob (Robin) Anderson; daughter, Karen (Jeff) Christopher; grandchildren, Kerry (Eric) Friedrichsohn, Kathleen Christopher, Emily Christopher and Nathan Christopher; great-grandchildren, Emery Frey, Samantha Friedrichsohn, Tristan Friedrichsohn and Destiny Myers Frey; sisters, Lois Smith and Helen Cummins; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judy Dawson; grandson, Andrew Frey; twin brother, Walter Anderson; and sister, Aurora Denney. Funeral services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Dr., Madison at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, with the Rev. Bob Goodsell presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery of Vienna at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Tribes Mission, www.ntm.org. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My grandpa was one of the most generous people I know. He and my grandma would always have a bag of useful stuff for us whenever we saw them - everything from decorations to furniture to tools (especially flashlights and screwdrivers). I've started doing this as well. I set aside things I think someone may want just like they did for me. Thank you grandpa for teaching me what generosity is.

I knew Wally from when we attended Waukesha Bible Church together. He was a fine example of a Christian man. He had a heart for missions. God's army here on earth lost a good soldier..."precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his godly ones."

Having just returned from vacation and reading my E-Mails I was shocked to read this sad news. I have known the Andersons from early 1940,s at Parkwood Baptist. Wally and I were in Boy Scouts, Caddied at the local golf course ,played in the Morgan Park High School Concert band, worked together after school
at a local National Tea grocers. I was honored to be Wallys best man at Wally and Marys wedding.
All these events have given me a view of a man who has loved life , and lived a life being helpful to others ,
living a life reflecting his Christian beliefs. I know that I will cherish my memories of him.
I pray that God will bless the Andersons at their great loss.
