Paul E. Schlotthauer

MIDDLETON/CROSS PLAINS-Paul E. Schlotthauer, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017. He was born on August 7, 1926, in Madison, the son of George and Theresa (Van Hatten) Schlotthauer.  Paul grew up in the Monroe Street neighborhood.  After graduation from Madison West High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  Upon returning from the Navy, Paul went to the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he graduated in 1947. After graduation Paul worked at Sub Zero until his retirement in 1991.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Valerie Bakken on January 27, 1979 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Middleton.  Paul was always such a kind and sweet man.  He had a real sense of peace about him.  We will miss him dearly.   Paul is survived by a stepson Dick (Sharel) Bakken; grandson Mike Bakken; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, Mackenzie and Jonathan "J.B." and numerous nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his wife Valerie, his parents George and Theresa Schlotthauer, and sisters, Terry Meyers, Georgia Runey, and Ruth Bussan.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave, Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, with Father Brian Wilk presiding.  Burial with military honors will be accorded at St. Francis Cemetery, Cross Plains. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday.  Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church or to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
