Obituary
MADISON-John Harley Brockman died on Monday, April 24, 2017, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born on Dec. 27, 1934, in Madison, the son of Alta (Harrop) and Harley John Brockman. He graduated from East High School in 1953. John was in the Air Scouts and Wisconsin National Air Guard. He worked for Warzyn from 1955-1971. In 1972, he joined Bernie Samply's Ziebart rustproofing in Madison. John bought the business when Bernie retired in 1973, and had the franchise for 25 years. Along with the Ziebart franchise, in 1982, he established Jancor, Inc., a sandblasting, painting and car restoration business. He was selling landscape stone for Stone Supply until the time of his death. John loved to learn new things and gained his knowledge through his passion for reading. John is survived by his children William Brockman (Linda Hagberg) of Brooklyn, Jane Brockman of Waupaca and Charles Brockman of Windsor; step-children, Shirley Oliver of Fort Atkinson, Jeff Tulsty of Waunakee, Sandy (Sean) Heiser of Edgerton and Sherry (Brad) Douglas of Portage; grandchildren, Jonathon Brockman and Melissa Nichols; many other step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Jade Durmaj and Aiden J Brockman-Drogsvold; sister, Suzanne Brockman-Zeigler; and cousins, Jim (Carol) VanDreser, Jan (Grace) VanDreser and Josephine (Bill) Borucki. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barb; and sister, Linda Brockman Almeida. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison at 12 noon on Saturday, April 29, 2017, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. John was Mr. Congeniality.... Mr PWP.... Their were a lot of fun times and memories with John over the years and he'll be missed. Our annual PWP picnics won't be the same without him. He was one heck of a nice guy and conversationalist... Rest in peace John.... pat

John was a hard working fun loving man, always there for his friends whenever they had a project on which they needed some help. Sometimes you had to wonder where he found the time to work to make a living with all the projects his friends had him working on. But he managed that too. His smile made the work easier and his laugh made up for the little glitches that always seem to pop up He was a good guy who loved the families he hung out with. He'll be missed.

We lost a great friend this week. So thankful for all the memories. John loved to tell stories about the past. He was happy to share his views on politics and anything else he was reading. We came to visit John at the shop whenever we were in town. He always had time for us. We loved viisiting with Barb and John at the cottage with all our P WP friends. For many years I would travel to Bill and John's workplace and drop off signs to be sandblasted by Bill. I always enjoyed going to Jancor and seeing John at the front desk and I would check in with him for a bit and catch up on events. John usually knew what was always going on and always had a story to tell. I don't believe I ever heard the same story twice he always had so many of them. He was one of the most kind and gentle man I ever knew. His smile was contagious and I always left his workplace what's a smile on my face. He will be greatly missed but he leaves behind so many memories that no one will ever ever forget him !!!

We were great business neighbors and friends. When I would come over and visit you and your dad , we had some of my most memorable times finding out all the people and friends that we had in common. I will always miss your Dad . When I return to Madison I will stop in.
