Obituary
MIDDLETON-Deborah Kay Bennedsen passed from our world on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at her home in Middleton, Wis., after living with lymphoma and its treatments for a year and a half. Deb was a tenderhearted nurturer who cared for all manner of living things, including her husband, the love of her life, children and stepchildren, her grandchildren and the countless four-legged creatures fortunate enough to find their way into her care. She befriended and cared for patients and colleagues alike during her 30 years as a cardiac nurse at Meriter Hospital--a truly natural calling for her. Deb meditated by creating beauty from chaos. Her incredible garden, knitting, and paintings will serve as a lasting reminder of her love to family, friends and neighbors. Debbie, we miss you more than we can say!

Deb had a true passion for life and a heart that just kept giving. You could see it in her family, friends, patients and her interests. The number of lives that she touched is amazing. So many sweet memories of dear Deb. I came to love her like she was my own child. Deb took me shopping in the winter in her beloved VW. The passenger door would not open when we arrived at the store (probably St.Vinnys). A gal undergoing chemo and a 77 year old trying to figure out how to get me out. Open the top or skinny over to the driver side! But her typical "I can do this" spirit figured out the problem. That trip, and the country side jaunt with the vintage Mustang will be part of me forever!! We joked that her afterlife would be Living Danishly. I hope it is!!!

I never knew you, Deb, but I know the product of your heart in your daughter, Miriam (Mimi), whom I am blessed to have on my team in the Wisconsin Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health, Lead and Asbestos Section. If she is a reflection of your love and your life, then you must have been an exceptional human being and I wish I could have known you. I hope wherever you are you are at peace knowing your legacy of love will live on.
